Human body static meter (KSD-4000/NK-3002)
Each electronic device and metal tool that workers handle has its own ground electrostatic capacity and is charged with human body static. When a charged electronic device touches the ground or a metal tool touches an electronic device, a transient current with high peak current will flow at a high speed, resulting in a failure. Use of a human body static meter ensures accurate measurement of static on the body, making it possible to immediately judge whether the static will harm an electronic device. It also informs of how effective conductive floors, static mats, static shoes, wrist straps or other countermeasures are in lowering human body static.
Features
- Static on the user’s body is easily measured by holding the probe in one’s hand.
- High-resolution measurement at ±0.1V is possible. (KSD-4000)
- Permits measurement over a wide range.
- Allows switching between peak hold measurement and continuous measurement.
- Use with a recorder provides a continuous record of changes in human body static caused by the worker’s movements.
- Permits easy evaluation or education of workers concerning countermeasures against static.
- Equipped with a built-in circuit that detects and informs of failure of the detection sensor. (Patented) (KSD-4000)
- The Sleep mode saves battery power when forgetting to turn the unit off. (KSD-4000)

Corona Treatment
What is corona treatment?
Corona treatment is a surface treatment technique. It modifies the surface of the base material to treat – such as plastic film, paper or metallic foil – by applying corona discharge.
Corona discharge is generated when high-frequency, high-voltage electricity from a corona generator is applied between the electrode and treating roller of the treating station.
A base material that passes through this corona discharge field is corona treated. This treatment generally improves wettability (wetting tension), and at the same time significantly improves the printing property, coating property, laminating property, etc.
Applications of corona treatment
Generally, the surfaces of plastics have low energy and are chemically inert. Because of these properties, the surfaces have poor coatability with coatings, printing inks, etc. Secondary processing of plastic films therefore requires their surface modification.
Corona treatment applies a polar functional group to the material surface to improve its hydrophilic property, thereby preventing coating and printing failures.
Recent years have seen the emergence of many functional films with small surface energy, making it more important to apply corona treatment in the converting process. This has led to the expansion of corona treatment into new technologies, a typical example of which is gas plasma treatment.
Properties of corona discharge treatment have also been applied for other purposes, including oil film removal from metallic foils, anti-fog treatment of plastic boards, etc., and facilitation of surface bleeding of additives.
Typical applications of corona treatment
- Pre-treatment before printing
- Pre-treatment before adhesion (lamination) (See “Usage examples”)
- Pre-treatment before coating (See “Usage examples”)
- Oil film removal (from aluminum foil, etc.)
- Antifogging
- Facilitation of surface bleeding of additives, etc.
Insulating base material treating station
This unit is a standard treating station for insulating base materials such as plastic films.
It is widely used for pretreatment before a converting process such as printing, coating, or laminating.
The metal electrode comes with a swinging gate. (A gate that opens and closes vertically can also be produced.) This is available with treatment widths up to 3,000 mm.
Equivalent circuit (insulating base material)
Conductive base material treating station
This treating station is capable of treating conductive base materials such as aluminum foil and copper foil.
It is also compatible with insulating base materials such as plastic films, so we recommend it to users engaging in processing treatment of a wide variety of base material films.
This station is essentially used as a combination of a dielectric coated electrode (such as a ceramic or quartz electrode) and a metal roll.
Equivalent circuit (conductive base material)
Station for molded products
This station is used for treating plastic-molded products and thick base materials such as foamed sheets.
It mainly uses a wire electrode to treat base materials in special shapes or ultra-thick base materials.
Conveyors, turntables, and other carrier devices are used to suggestion stations that are suitable for individual customers and that will improve production efficiency.
Gas plasma treatment station
This treating station is used to perform corona discharge treatment in gas.
When corona treatment in gas (gas plasma treatment) is applied, selectivity is given to the functional group to be introduced to the base material by the type, etc. of the rare gas or inert gas used. The result is surface modification that cannot generally be obtained with corona treatments.
